The most affordable EcoFlow with LiFePO4 battery technology.
WattsGeek Rating
"Highly Recommended"
The EcoFlow RIVER 2 is the new gold standard for entry-level portable power. If you just need to charge phones, laptops, and cameras, there is no reason to buy anything else. It is durable, fast, and incredibly affordable.
For years, buying a \"budget\" power station meant accepting slow charging, short warranties, and batteries that died after a few years. The EcoFlow RIVER 2 changes that game entirely. By bringing the same LiFePO4 battery tech and lightning-fast charging found in their flagship models down to an entry-level device, EcoFlow has made the RIVER 2 the undisputed king of the compact class. It’s small, it’s cheap, and it’s built to last for over a decade.
The RIVER 2 is delightfully compact. Weighing just 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg), it fits easily into a backpack or sits unobtrusively on a desk. The rear-mounted handle makes it easy to grab, and the flat top allows for stacking (though the handle protrudes slightly). It feels dense and well-constructed, ditching the flimsy plastic feel of older budget generic brands.
With 256Wh of capacity and a 300W inverter, expectations should be managed. This is a device for personal electronics, not home appliances.
We tested X-Boost with a 500W travel blender. It worked, but the motor ran slower than usual. It’s a handy feature in a pinch but not a magic solution for high-power needs.
The speed is transformative. Ideally, you plug it in while packing your bag, and it's full before you leave the house (60 mins).
Solar Charging: Supports up to 110W. With a standard 100W panel, you can refill it in about 3 to 4 hours.
Car Charging: Takes about 3 hours via a 12V cigarette port.
This is the perfect \"first power station\" for anyone. It’s ideal for students charging laptops in libraries, photographers charging drone batteries in the field, or campers who just need to keep phones and lights running. At its price point, it also makes a great gift.
Do not buy this expecting to power a coffee maker, heater, or hair dryer—the 300W inverter is too small (even with X-Boost, results vary). If you need to run a CPAP for multiple nights or a 12V fridge for a full weekend, step up to the RIVER 2 Pro or DELTA 2.
Vs. Jackery Explorer 300: The Jackery has slightly more capacity (293Wh) but uses older battery tech (500 cycles) and takes 4.5 hours to wall charge. The RIVER 2 charges 5x faster and lasts 6x longer.
Vs. Bluetti EB3A: The EB3A is the closest rival with similar specs, but the RIVER 2 has a more reliable inverter (less prone to overload errors) and a better warranty/support track record.
The EcoFlow RIVER 2 is a triumph of value engineering. It takes the premium features of expensive units—LiFePO4 batteries, fast charging, and app control—and puts them in a package anyone can afford. It is, without doubt, the best sub-300Wh power station on the market today. We rate it a 9.0/10.
